This chapter was very interesting about books that give out information and helps inform people about things.
I was interested that the book features a section on dinosaur books. I find that looking at nonfiction books with lots of pictures is an activity that includes all levels of readers and students like to do it together with a high level reader doing most of the reading of the text. I have always tried to use informational books as additions to which ever subject I happened to be trying to learn. That way I have more than one source to go by and just rely on the Internet. Teaching math or science is great but having other book to reinforce the materials being taught help children see it differently. It will show them that there is more ways to learn about math or science or anything. You need to explore your child to more things. This chapter really helps discuss how you can learn about the human or animal body. Informational books are greats ways to teach children.

ch.11

I really enjoyed this chapter dealing with biographies because these are my favorite books to read. I just love reading about another person's life and what they enjoyed doing.Teaching With Biographies it mentioned that children would rather read a biography than a textbook which really interested me. I really do believe that because children like to know about people of the past and one's who have shaped the world. The history of biographical writing is much like that in the world of art where everything started by a person who mastic times. Children's stories and biographies of the 17th - 19th centuries were used to teach religious and moral lessons. During the 60's and 70's critics and educators felt that biographical subjects was not the best for child development. Still to this day government or people of power don't believe in education kids about religion in school. Time lines are a great way for kids to learn and know what happen at certain times in the past. Some people read biographies to preserve the person overtime because they can't let go. Some books can be motivational and discussions for people that will enhance them about a person or subject.

ch.10

In this chapter we are talking about historical fiction. These type of books go back in time and tell stories of our ancestors. They will give you a chance to think about what it was like back in the old times and where you come from. This book does talk about the slain using by younger generations and how they can pick up bad habits from reading these historical fiction books. I think the best way is to expose kids to good grammar so they will be use to it and speak it on a regular bases. In describing the characterization, the text discusses that concept that actions, beliefs, and values of the characters should be of the historical time in the book. Historical fiction presents the readers with a story that takes place during a notable period in history, and usually during a significant event in that period. Dealing with historical fiction these stories are coming from people's point of view living in that time. If gives readers an ideal how certain societies acted back then in certain places. You will be able to see the similarities between the present and past. I particularly like the part that states that historical fiction allows children/readers to judge relationships and realize that their present and future are very much linked to the actions in the past. I was told by older people that the things we do now they did almost thirty years ago and that time was just passing by again.
