ch.5
This chapter is about picture books. Picture books don't have words or just a little, but does tell a surreal story. Picture books have very good characteristics that will show the reader the way the story will go. Most of the time some of these books are wrote with rhythm. Some of the most famous picture books are tales or nursery rhymes in other lands. Another popular book is toy books that help kids learn shapes or colors. Their are so many different types of books that are called picture books. Majority of these books are used to help preschoolers and kindergartens learn there basic education and becomes interesting. This books are easy to read for children who are just beginning to read. Picture books help you span your imagination and show you how to explore mind about different genres of readings. The plot and characterization in picture books helps establish the child's reading span. I really like picture books to learn with younger children because they will draw the child in because of the illustrations. It's so many ways that the child can be inventive with their fantasies. I think it is interesting the chapter shows how picture books inspires you to write.

Ch.4
This chapter is about understanding artists and illustrators and how they the book out. The grammar of artists are lines color, shape, and texture. The lines suggest direction , motion and energy. The color is more of the contrast to the line. Sometimes color are associated with certain colors and evident in certain things. Shapes comes from lines because intersection between each other. Shapes can show the mood of the story sometimes and also how an event may occur. The texture of the book is how the picture is going feel. Designing the visual element is bringing all the grammars of art together. Artists use different types of materials or objects to bring the picture to life. Artist use watercolors, acrylics, pastels, and oils to bring the color to a picture. You can use all kind of artistic styles to make book feel real. Some illustrators will paste things or use abstract art. There are now art educational books are there to teach kids about art and show different elements in what goes into being a book. All great illustrators or artists have their own unique styles. You can tell when se a certain book that author has work on. Everything that an artist does takes time in developing what will describe the words that the author is trying to say. That's the difference between a good artist and a great artist. They give out awards every year for good illustration works called the Cadlecott and Honor Awards.

ch.3
Ch.3 is about evaluating and selecting literature for children. You should have objectives when choosing these books. One of the first one’s is choosing something that will interest the child. If you are trying to balance life and enjoyment in your child’s life then you need to include them. I believe that children should be exposed to different culture of literature. Plot is another good reason to choose literature for children so they stay interested. At a young age they like simple plots and themes, but as they get older they want more complex plots. Having conflict is a reason that everyone and especially kids love literature. Styles of books can sometimes not be appropriate for certain age groups. They can be inappropriate by the pictures or the words being to complex for younger kids. Every age group has a different development stage so they prefer different types of literature. I feel it’s very important that you choose a book that a child can read and not stumbling over words. The main thing in this chapter is to involve children in the choosing of books if you are a teacher or parent. Ultimately they are the ones who have to read the book and enjoy it.
